Welcome to Redbird Art Gallery! I’m so glad you stopped by..
I'M Anne McDonald
and I would appreciate a "Like" if indeed you like what you see. And of course, a sale is always appreciated.
I paint. Moments of beauty in time and space capture me. A chunk of turkey tail, a rotting pickup truck, moonrise over downtown Breckenridge or over the apartment building across the way here in Kansas, intermittent rain in Cesar Chaves Austin traffic, a gravid longhorn shifting her position among prickly pear and wild poppies, storms in the still-wild places, a winning goal kicked, these are a few of the things stirring my heart and my paintbrush.
The heartbreaking beauty and subtle grandeur of the day-to-day inspires and informs the voice and presence of my art. From magnificent vistas and homesites, to the tiniest first bluet following a bitter winter, all are subject to the brush. My pallet is as mutable as the subjects themselves.
Absolute commitment to represent and celebrate the resilient joy of humanity, the unquenchable glory of our planetary home and its Maker, and the innocence of the creatures who share it with us, are the guardrails and standards of my work. Should you choose to commission a piece, we will work together to apply the same standard of excellence to finding what captures you, in order to produce a work specifically representative of your joy.
Thank you for giving me the honor of sharing my insights into the created and made things of this world by stopping by. Enjoy your stay.
My art business is designated as a Trusted Art Seller with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.

Inspiration
I consider myself an artist of the beauty and grandeur of the day-to-day. My work is made with the absolute commitment to represent and celebrate the resilient joy of humanity, the unquenchable glory of our planetary home and its Maker, and the innocence of the creatures who share it with us.
Techniques
I work in pastel, oil, acrylic, watercolor, and mosaic. I studied painting with Ray Yoder in Waynesboro, VA from age 9 through graduation from high school.
I cannot foresee the time when I will not be actively working on improving my knowledge and using every day to learn something new!

Teachers Teach
During the summer of Co-vid lockdown, I was out painting en plein air.
The piece was an early evening piece, so I was out when children and
families came out after supper to walk, ride bikes, and play. Soon the
children began to come see how the painting was progressing, followed by
their parents. When children asked for teaching, I was pleased to open a
plein air class for them. We worked for two months, ending with a
formal exhibit. Moms of those children, along with other adults, then
requested a class for themselves in oil painting.
We worked until it was
too cold in Garage 24!
